Week-of Reminders

Hello all!

Now that our wedding day is less than a week away, it's time to start getting ready! Here's some additional information that we hope you'll find useful as the wedding approaches. If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email. We can't wait to see you and celebrate you on August 3rd!

Love,

The Big Day:
The ceremony is outside in the "Wedding Pasture" at 1:30pm.  The dinner reception is under a large tent and begins at 4pm followed by dessert, music, and dancing. While the wedding party takes photos in between the ceremony and dinner, guests are invited to tour the farm, participate in the "pebble toss" wedding tradition down by Arms Creek, and partake in appetizers and beverages.

What to Wear (and What Not to Wear):
"Business casual" is a good guideline for planning what you'll wear, but also consider your own comfort for the day. Given that the event will be on grass (and the ground is uneven in some places) we strongly recommend that you don't wear high heels.

Overnight Accommodations:
If you're in from out of town, don't want to have to worry about driving after the party, or just want the excuse to sleep under the stars, you can camp out at Brines Farm. Bring your own tent and sleeping bag and stake out a spot on the back forty. Let us know by Wednesday (July 31st) if you'll be staying over night.

Friday/Sunday Wedding Activities - Please celebrate with us a little more:
Friday Night - 7pm to 9pm
Bill's Beer Garden
218 S. Ashley Street, Ann Arbor

Join us for a drink at Bill's Beer Garden on Friday night! This is an outdoor venue that doesn't serve food, but you can bring it in from one of the downtown restaurants or stroll through Downtown Home and Garden and pick up a snack from Mark's Carts (http://markscartsannarbor.com/).

Sunday Brunch - 10am to 1pm
Back at Brines Farm
6384 Walsh Road, Whitmore Lake

All are welcome back to the farm for a light breakfast on Sunday morning. Please send us a quick email to let us know that you'll be there, just so we can plan for food.

Weather Conditions:
We will be getting married outdoors on the farm on August 3rd, rain or shine! We do have a large tent just in case. If it rains, you may want to consider bringing an umbrella, and maybe galoshes.

Other Updates:
Check back here on the blog, give us a call, or email us.

Less than two weeks...

The farm is starting to clean up quite nicely for the big day. The farmhouse (which guests will see when arriving at the farm) is looking nice after some washing, scraping, and a coat of paint on the porch. Thanks to both sets of parents for the help!!!! The original portion of this farmhouse was originally constructed likely between 1865-1880.

July 4th

With such a busy year we had only made it up north on New Year's and Memorial Weekend (to run the Bayshore Half!).... So July 4th weekend was up north where we got some wedding planning done of course but also got some swims in Lake Michigan in and a hike at Pyramid Point.

Nearly 1 Month To Go...

We traveled this past weekend to Glen Ellyn, Illinois for a wedding reception for Katherine & Doc!

We had a great time! Really enjoyed the fabulous food spread - we hope we can match it.

The drive was not too bad. Gave us some time to keep planning our ceremony. On the way back took a break from driving to visit Grand Mere State Park on Lake Michigan. Beautiful!

Post-Vacation = Wedding Planning in Earnest

We had a great time vacationing in February, visiting Sondra in North Carolina and enjoying a great week at Hotel Mittendorf in the Keys... But now it is March so the planning for the wedding has really shifted into overdrive as well as the planning for making the farm beautiful for the wedding, not to mention another season of growing fruits and veggies!
